WEEROONA WIN TO WALSH!

Running virtually solo, Fifteen year old Fraser Walsh, clocked an excellent time of 10.09 minutes for the two lap, 3000 metres, in the latest Time Trials held at the Athletics Bendigo Trot Around Tuesdays at Lake Weeroona. With a half way split of 5.02 minutes, Fraser held a good pace to run 5.07 for the second lap.

Second fastest time of the night went to Tony Vlaeminck in 11.37, followed by Phil Brown in 11.51 minutes.

Leanne Healey ran the second fastest female time of the season with 12.22 minutes, just ahead of Kerrieanne Hocking at 12.26 minutes.

Demi Goodall-Hoffman has the season best female time of 12.18 minutes.

Season Best 3km times were recorded by Phil Brown 11.51 & Hunter Gill 12.24.

Max Vlaeminck recorded the quickest 1500 metre time of 5.45 minutes, ahead of Brad Marron & Brianna Marron.

500 metre season bests were recorded by Brianna Marron 6.30 & Ian Carmichael 7.07 minutes.

Next Tuesday is a training night from 5.30pm to 6.45pm. The next time trial night will be on Tuesday 3rd August at 6.00pm.

ERMEL MAKES IT BACK TO BACK WINS

In the most recent trials, it was Rick Ermel returning to form with the fastest time of the night, 10.14 minutes for the two lap, 3000 metre circuit.

New runner Michael Preece claimed second best time of 10.23 minutes, with Greg Hilson 10.29 minutes holding out Leigh Browell 10.30 for third place.

Brad Marron ran the quickest 1500 metre time of 6.15 minutes, ahead of sister Brianna 6.46 & Emily Jordan 6.49.

ERMEL RUNS HOT LAP ON COLD NIGHT!

On a Cold, drizzly, but still Tuesday night at Lake Weeroona and only nine starters, some excellent times were recorded in the 1500 metre Hot Lap Time Trial at the Athletics Bendigo Trot Around Tuesdays.

Rick Ermel showed a return to form with a good time of 4.53 minutes, finishing clear of David Ottrey & David Heislers.

Brianna Marron was the fastest girl in 6.47 minutes.

New runners, Nathan Love 5.55 minutes & Brad Marron 6.35 minutes, both ran well.

15TH JUNE 2010 - HILSON RUNS FIELD OFF THEIR LEGS

On a great night for running fast times at Lake Weeroona, 1 personal best & 11 season best times were recorded at the Athletics Bendigo Trot Around Tuesdays.

Time trials were held over 3000 metres & 1500 metres, with talented youngster Demi Goodall-Hoffman achieving a personal best time of 12.18 minutes for the 3000 metre distance.

Fastest time of the night went to Greg Hilson 10.08 minutes, ahead of Rick Ermel 10.29 and David Tarrant 10.42, all achieving season best times.

Also tearing up the turf in season best times were David Ottrey 11.13, Terry Crome 11.26, Phil Brown 11.43, Geoff Pickering 12.12, Hunter Gill 12.26, David Heislers 12.31 & Ken Bruechert 15.44 minutes.

Having her first lake run, Brianna Elder claimed fastest time over the 1500 metres in 6.54, with Maria Bryce also clocking a season best 8.06 minutes.

Next week is a training night from 5.30pm-7.00pm.

1st June 2010 BIRCH BEATS RIVALS

In the latest time trials, David Birch ran the fastest time of 9.23 minutes, to beat Greg Hilson & Matthew Heislers.

An impressive run on the night came from Tony Fahy with a personal best 12.38 & even splits of 6.19 minutes.

Hunter Gill also returned to form with a 12.41 minute effort.

18th May 2010 COWELL CLAIMS FASTEST TIME 
ON LAKE COURSE

Peter Cowell has clocked the fastest time of the night in the 3000 metre event at the Trot Around Tuesday, this week. Cowell broke the magical 10 minute barrier with a time of 9.57 minutes.

Mike Bieleny ran a season best time of 10.09 minutes, to be second fastest. 
Damien Demaj’s time of 10.48 minutes made him third fastest.

Twelve year old Matt Heislers, having his 1st lake time trial, ran a sensational time of 11.32 minutes.

David Ottrey ran a season best 11.34 minutes, despite missing the start by 12 seconds.

Tony Fahy produced a good performance of 13.03, with split times of 6.34 & 6.29 minutes.

Ken Bruechert was first to finish of the 1500 metre runners, ahead of Maria Bryce.

4th May 2010 - WILLIAMSON WINS IN THE WET AT WEEROONA
Cody Williamson has run the fastest time of the season so far, 9.14 minutes, on a wet Tuesday night at Lake Weeroona. Williamson was quickest, ahead of Greg Hilson 10.09 minutes & Mike Bieleny 10.33 minutes. Seventy-six year old Ken Bruechert was the only runner on the night to run a negative split time, with a 7.56 & 7.55 for an overall time of 15.51 minutes.

In the 1500 metres, Bryan Keely led the way, with a time of 4.25 minutes.
Leigh Browell was next best in 5.06 minutes, ahead of Peter Hayes 6.48 minutes.

20th April 2010 - LARGE FIELD CONTESTS LAKE TIME TRIALS
Twenty four athletes contested the Time Trials at the Athletics Bendigo Trot Around Tuesday held this week at Bendigo’s Lake Weeroona.

Chris Naunton navigated his way around the two lap 3000 metre course in the fastest time of the night, being 10.03 minutes. Next best on the night was newcomer Jarrod Epps in 10.25 minutes, with John Maher not far behind in 10.28 minutes. Demi Goodall-Hoffman had her first lake run, finishing fastest female in 13.00 minutes. Other new runners included Damien Demaj 10.53, Kieran Sutton 10.54, Charles Chambers 11.12, Dave Tarrant 13.21, Geoff Jordan 13.52.

Max Vlaeminck ran the quickest time of the night in the 1500 metre trial with a time of 5.41 minutes, with Kaitlyn Bryce the fastest girl in 6.53 minutes. The Jordan girls, Emily 6.56 & Hannah 7.33 both ran extremely well.

6th April 2010 - SAVAGE WINS SEASONS OPENER AT LAKE WEEROONA
Tom Savage ran the fastest time on the opening night of the Trot Around Tuesdays, held at Lake Weeroona. Savage clocked a time of 11.04 minutes to finish clear of Nick Crome 11.41 minutes and John Rose third fastest in 11.44 minutes.

A busy week for members of the Bendigo YMCA Harriers with junior members participating at the Victorian Secondary Schools Cross Country events at Bundoora last Tuesday. Then on Saturday members again competed at Bundoora in the Athletics Victoria 12 kms. Cross Country event for men and 8 kms for Women, as well as the Victorian All Schools Cross Country events, while on the local scene members contested the various distances in the Purtill's Nursery Pty.Ltd. Stock Exchange Handicaps at Huntly.

The first event at Huntly was the 500 metres with Charli Green finishing strongly to win from Ethan Matthews and Charlotte Sexton recording fastest time for the girls and Fraser Bynon fastest time for the boys.

In a very well handicaped 1,000 metres event with runners crossing the finish line in quick succession it was James Mittell crossing the line in first place from Chloe Green taking second place from Hollie Gleeson a close third just shading Emma Gilligan and Brianna Marron. Fastest time honours went to Anthony Dempster in the Boys and Anna Purtill in the Girls.

A big improver saw Allan Hammer get over the line 3 seconds ahead of Aimee Powell finishing the race off well from Leone Sevudredre who ran with one shoe off for the last half of the race getting the judges nod from Weeroona School mate Luke Miller with Rochelle Sexton and Gloria Bellman very close up. Brenton Hassett recorded fastest time for the men while Aimee Powell recorded fastest time for the women.

Melinda Gilligan, after competing in the 10 kms event at the Gold Coast, used her handicap to advantage as she lead from start to finish with a clear cut win from Garnet Rodda who is not far from a win in second place with a very good run from Ross Evans running from the scratch mark in third place. Other good performances come from Michael Kauter starting to find a bit of form and Ashley Taylor who stepped up to the longer distance ran a steady race. Fastest time went to Ross Evans in the men with Yvette Touhey recording the quickest time for the women.

At the Victorian Secondary Schools Cross Country events at Bundoora on Tuesday Shaun Geraghty won the Open Boys 5km event in 15.44, 16 Year Boys Jacob Nolan was 13th. 18.02, Lonain Burnett 60th. 20.24, 15 Year Boys Brenton Hassett 27th. 10.53, Ashley Taylor 57th. 11.18, 14 Year Boys Matthew Cindric 34th. 11.01, other club members to compete but no times and placings available were Kirily Burnett, Yvette Touhey, Alice Schenker and Dylan Harvey.

At the Athletics Victoria events at Bundoora on Saturday Brady Threlfall again went under the top ten finishers with a excellent 7th. place in the 12 kms event with a 38.59 for the distance. Others to compete were Philip Noden with a top run 63rd. 43.11, David Birch 120th. 46.15, Peter Cowell 127th. 46.28, Charles Chambers 132nd. 46.48, Derek Higham 207th. 50.54, while in the Womens 8 Kms Meredith Cook finished a very creditable 21st. place in the time of 31.57.

While in the Victorian all Schools Shaun Geraghty finished 2nd in the 6 kms. event in 19.59, a good performance considering he is still recovering from a bout of tonsilitis. Shaun will compete in Brisbane in the Victorian team at the Australian All Schools Cross Country and Relays 22nd to the 24th. of August. Josh Powell 26th. in the 3 kms event in 11.35, and Matthew Cindric 34th. in the 4 kms event in 15.40.

The Club will conduct their 6th, Trivia Night on Saturday August 21st. at the Strathdale Community Centre in Crook Street at 7.00 pm, $ 8.00 per peerson tables of eight, For more information or to Book contact Melinda or Brett on 5446 2401. 
Next Saturday is the Eaglehawk YMCA Invitation races starting at 2.00 pm at Lake Neanger Napier Street Eaglehawk, distances are 5,000 mts, 2,500 mts and 1,000 mts. Entry fee $2.00  Under 15 and Under 18 and over $5.00.
