KEL PELL AND FAMILY SPONSORED SEDGWICK RUNS

Results of the Bendigo YMCA Harriers Cross Country events from Sedgwick on Saturday.

Good fields and conditions made for a successful day with the running of the Kell Pell and family sponsored Bendigo YMCA Harriers cross country events along the bush tracks of Sedgwick on Saturday.

The 500 metre event was the first run for the day with Charli Green in a top form scoring from Lachlan Perdon another consistent performance and fastest time for the boys with Holy Fitzpatrick in third place, just a head of Emma Gilligan recording fastest time for the girls.

In the 1 km event Taylor Stibbe showed great improvement to score a good win from Abe McLoughlin and Michael Flynn in third place and recording fastest time for the boys, with Aimee Powell recording fastest time for the girls.

Tony Fitzpatrick put in another excellent performance in the 3 km event to win and record fastest time for the men,but had to pull out all stops to hold off the determined and improving Brenton Hassett in second place ahead of Jacob Nolan who also ran well from another promising junior in Josh Powell coming in fourth. Kirrily Burnett recorded fastest time for the women.

A strong line up for the 5 km event was excellent considering a number of athletes were to compete the next day in the Athletics Victoria Burnley half marathon. The eventual winner was the well performed athlete in Rick Ermel from Peter Cowell getting back into form after an injury with Paul Boxshall returning to the club after a few seasons with Box Hill whilst living in Melbourne, also recorded fastest time just ahead of Luke Hutchins, Other good performances were recorded by Lyn Crome and Nathan Green.
