Little Athletics

The Bendigo YMCA Harriers have a long term affiliation with the YMYW athletics club which has been our junior affiliate. For season 2009/10 the Little Athletics club will be known as the YM Harriers which will enhance the pathway into the senior club of the Harriers.

Little Athletics is run at the Flora Hill Athletics Track mainly on Saturday mornings from 8.30am.

There is also the occasional Friday night evening meeting from 5pm. The season runs from October to March.

Against what has occurred in many other junior sports the Little Athletics is run for the active participation of children in an environment that encourages everyone no matter what their ability is. Every Saturday children are clapped over the line by officials and parents for just having a really good try.

Participation may start for your child from the age of 5 through to Under 15. The Under 6's complete a couple of events each week and are shown how to throw a discus, do the long jump, jump hurdles, run and more much. They of course then get to practice these new skills.

Bendigo Little Athletics Club Registration Day Reminder
The pre-season discount fee of $95.00 for early registration can be made on either of the following days at the Athletics Track (LUBAC), Retreat Road, Spring Gully (between Macdonalds Nursery and The One Tree Hill Hotel).
· Registration Day 1 Thursday 30^th September 6.30-8.30pm
· Registration Day 2 Saturday 2nd October 9.30-11.30am
Full payment must be received and number and barcode allocated for results to count on the first day of competition. Athletes may register any time during the season. The fee after registration days is $110.00 per child.
· First Day of competition Saturday 9^th October 8.30 am
How to register on either of the two registration days
1. Complete all details on the two registration forms being sure to include current contact details
2. Bring copy of proof of birth if this is your child’s first time registered
3. Payment of $95.00 per child to be made by cash or cheque made payable to Bendigo Little Athletics Club
4. Using receipt - collect information pack and allocated competition number/s with personalised barcode
5. Uniform of yellow polo shirt and royal blue shorts will be available for purchase on both registration days

Mailed registrations to be received before Saturday ^2nd October.
One Day Registration – Come and Try for two weeks
If you or your child are unsure about making a commitment for the season, a “Come and Try One Day Registration” is an option for 2 weeks only at a cost of $2.00 per week. A “One Day Registration” form must be completed and signed by a guardian. After 2 weeks, payment of $110.00 is due.
First Day of Competition
- Ensure your child’s number & barcode is pinned to their competition shirt
- 8.30am start – all children will warm up together out on the centre of the track
- Your child’s events for Day 1 will be listed in the handbook which will be provided upon registration
- Your child will be with their age group manager who has the age group number on the back of a hi-viz shirt
- The order of events for age groups will be announced over the loud speaker
- Canteen and Coffee Van will be open for refreshments during the morning
What your registration fee provides
Affiliation with Little Athletics Victoria (LAV) is compulsory. Your child’s registration fees cover;
· Membership of Little Athletics Victoria
· Subscription to NARS an online results data base which stores/compiles all our results and information
· Use of LUBAC facilities and equipment for both competition and training
· LAV information pack and registration number
· End of season awards
· Insurance.
